The government says it will start arresting all individuals who committed crimes beginning today as part of efforts to restore security across the country.
Deputy Minister of Homeland Security Norman Chisale announced the directive while speaking at a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rally held at Chilimapunga ground in Mtandire, Lilongwe.
He said anyone involved in criminal activities will face the full force of the law and warned community members to take the message seriously.
“From today, all people who delight in crime should be warned. All DPP members should not be dismayed, as the President [Peter Mutharika] will fulfill his promises and people will be employed,” Chisale said.

In his remarks, Alfred Gangata, the DPP Vice President for the Central Region, thanked the people for voting for him and for bringing the party back into government.
He said Mutharika remained committed to the promises he made on the campaign trail.
The meeting was part of a ‘thank you’ rally after the DPP defeated the Malawi Congress Party in the September 16, 2025 Presidential Election.
