Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) claims that at least 19 warrants of arrest have been issued for some of its leaders.
MCP Director of Youth Steven Baba Malondera said this during a youth gathering at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe on Saturday.
Former president Lazarus Chakwera, who is also the party leader, attended the gathering.
Malondera claimed that the arrests were planned to be made soon after the closure of the current parliamentary deliberations
so at a time we are still crying, do not rush to make decisions and harass others because in the end, you will realise and regret harassing your own relative. Let’s remain united and rely on each other,” the former president said.
