By Praise Majawa:
The Goshen City Dedza Dynamos’ sponsorship is hanging in the balance after the club was given a 20-working-day ultimatum to address issues such as financial irregularities, unpaid salaries and governance wrangles.
The ultimatum puts the FDH Bank Premiership side’s financial future in doubt, with sponsor Goshen City warning that failure to implement corrective measures could trigger a review of the existing sponsorship and management arrangements.
In an internal letter dated November 3, 2026 and signed by director of communication Aubrey Kusakala, the sponsor expressed frustration over the club’s failure to respond to an earlier letter, dated October 26, 2026, which sought explanations on payroll discrepancies, salary adjustments, recruitment and outstanding travelling allowances for the match against Civil Service United.

In October last year, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Goshen City sealed a K1.2 billion sponsorship deal with the Dedza-based club.

The two-year agreement translates to K600 million per season.
The sponsor says club employees remain unpaid because management has not resubmitted a corrected October payroll for approval.
However, it insists that the delay should not be mistaken for unwillingness to pay.
“The payroll remains pending because the discrepancies identified in the initial submission have not been satisfactorily addressed,” the letter reads.

Governance concerns have also emerged over the appointment of a chief executive officer, dissolution of an independently elected executive committee and appointment of a board of
directors and head coach Eliya Kananji, allegedly without prior consultation with the sponsor.
Kananji was appointed following the club’s decision to fire Alex Ngwira over poor results.
The sponsor has since directed the club to reconcile salaries, allowances and sponsorship funds, submit an updated register of players and officials and improve its communication systems.
Unpaid salaries and allowances have triggered repeated training boycotts at the club.
“Should the club fail to satisfactorily address these concerns within the stipulated 20 working days, the president and sponsor shall be compelled to review the existing sponsorship and management arrangements and consider appropriate action,” the sponsor says.
The club’s chief executive officer Haswell Gamphani was not available for a comment.
On the pitch, Dedza Dynamos are also facing a difficult campaign, sitting 12th on the 16-team table with 20 points, just three points above the relegation zone.
