Towering defender Lawrence Chaziya scored twice to inspire Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to open a four-point gap at the summit of the TNM Super League log table after thrashing Extreme FC 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.
The win has boosted Wanderers’ chances of winning the title as they have opened a four-point gap over second-placed Chitipa United and a six-point gap over defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
Wanderers top the table with 46 points from 23 matches while Extreme remain at the bottom with 14 points from 23 games.
After a barren first half, Chaziya grabbed a brace, heading home corner-kicks from Stanley Sanudi on both occasions.
He headed home the first goal in the 54th minute before repeating the feat in the 85th minute in similar fashion.

The relegation-bound Extreme failed to term the gangling defender as he jumped high, defying gravity, to help Wanderers avenge for their first round 1-0 loss.
In added time, Francis Mkonda sealed the coffin when he connected home an Isaac Kaliati cross.
Wanderers Coach Mark Harrison expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance.
“It was a match we should have won by six or seven goals but we struggled to score goals. We should have been four up at half time but the referee did not do a good job today. In fact, I am tired of mentioning this week in, week out,” Harrison.

Extreme Assistant Coach Elvis Kafoteka conceded defeat.
“We started badly in the second half as we conceded through set pieces. I am urging my players not to give up as we still have six matches to wind up the league,” he said.
