Rift Valley Resource Developments Limited, the Malawian subsidiary of Australian-listed Lindian Resources Limited, has applied to upgrade its mining licence for the Kangankunde Rare Earths Mine in Balaka from medium-scale to large-scale following a directive from the Attorney General (AG).
AG Frank Mbeta recently warned that mining companies failing to comply with licensing requirements risk having their operations shut down.
