Four young artists namely Vanessa Litta, James Chavula, Jackline Chimatula and Christopher Master leaves left the country on Thursday for Brazil and Norway in the Musicians Organisers Volunteer Exchange (Move) which is spearheaded by Music Crossroads Malawi.
The movers will spend a week in South Africa for preparatory training before heading for Brazil and Norway.
Litta, who is now teaching music and dance at Jacaranda School for Orphans in Blantyre, is going to Brazil alongside Chavula whereas Chimatula, who is a drummer and stars for Daughters Band, is going to Norway alongside Master.
Music Crossroads Malawi Director Mathews Mfune said yesterday that they are excited that the four artists are going for the Move programme that has so far seen 45 participants being part of it to this far.
“The strides that Move programme has done are huge and many of these young people are doing so much in the industry,” Mfune said.

He said this year they have not sent participants in Mozambique because of other challenges.
“We normally send participants to Brazil, Norway and Mozambique but this year, its only Brazil and Norway,” Mfune said.
The four artists will be in Norway and Brazil for close to a year.
Litta said yesterday she is looking forward to participate in the Move programme and fly the country’s flag.

“This is the first time for me to stay abroad for a year. I am happy that I will exchange music and dance from Malawi,” she said.
Move is an exchange programme between JM Norway and sister organisations – Music Crossroads in Malawi and Mozambique, and the organisation Projeto Guri in Brazil.
The programme exchanges youth with musical and organiser competence, empowering them with new tools and intercultural understanding to enrich the participants as well as their local cultural communities.
Some of the previous recipients of Move programme include Jaco Jana, Phalyce Kumdana, Dan Khoviwa and Chisomo Ngondo.
