Mulanje District is set to be treated to a feast of entertainment through an inaugural fiesta known as Mulanje Peaks and Rhythm Festival led by FineSoundsPlug.
The festival, to be held at Mulanje Stadium from September 8 to 10 2023, seeks to celebrate culture, tourism and entertainment.
Some of the activities set to light the festival include hiking, camping, sightseeing tours, kids’ zone activities, sports and games, live music performances as well as the crowning of Mr and Miss Mulanje.
FineSoundsPlug Chief Executive officer Michael Kwapata said despite the potential that Mulanje has in tourism, “there are not enough dedicated events that showcase the essence of Mulanje to both local and international audiences”.

“We aim to bridge that gap, bring music and arts in general. By cultivating the power of cultural celebration and adventure, we aim to create an opportunity to promote tourism in Mulanje and shine a spotlight on its diverse cultural heritage and natural beauty,” Kwapata said.
He said this will also provide an opportunity to small businesses around the area.
“Our expectations for the festival are to not only provide entertainment but also to leave a lasting impact. We aim to foster community unity, promote environmental consciousness and showcase local talents while also encouraging partnerships for future sustainability,” Kwapata said.
Meanwhile, Kwapata has said preparations are underway to make sure that people receive the best entertainment ever.

“As for sponsorship, we have secured the support of several partners who share our vision. But we are still calling upon other well-wishers willing to lender their support,” Kwapata said.
He assured people that the festival will be running annually in September, which is Tourism Month.
