Malawi National Netball Team shooter Mwawi Kumwenda has reiterated her availability for senior side duties after renewing her contract with Australian Netball Championships side Melbourne Vixens.
Mwawi was embroiled in controversy at the 2023 Cape Town Netball World Cup in South Africa and she missed the Fast5 Netball World Series as she opted to give youngsters a chance.
In an interview, Mwawi said she would be available for the Queens during other major tournaments.
“Yes, I am committed to the call up anytime. I will continue playing for the beloved team [the Queens],” she said.
The former Kukoma Diamonds [formally Escom Sisters] player justified her withdrawal from the Fast5 squad, saying she wanted youngsters to gain exposure as the tournament was not a ranking one.

“It is important to pass knowledge and skills to the younger generation. Even we took over from the seniors of our time,” she said.
Mwawi, who launched her international career with Peninsula Waves in Australia before playing for Tactix, was delighted that Waves extended her contract.
“I am excited for the contract extension,” she said.
