TO WELCOME NEW COACH—Hammers
SHARE

Mzuzu City Hammers have made changes to their technical panel by roping in Kondwa Ikwanga as head coach.

Patron Gift Mkandawire said Ikwanga has replaced Elias Chirambo, who is now technical director.

Mkandawire said Chirambo, who has been with the team as head coach for the past two seasons, will be overseer of the club’s main, reserve and women’s teams.

“All we want is to have a vibrant technical team. We do not want to lose the momentum as was the case last season, when our performance just dropped from nowhere. So we have engaged Ikwanga to help us in the technical setup,” he said.

Hammers are currently fourth on the TNM Super League log table with 18 points from 11 matches.

However, Ikwanga said the move was yet to be finalised.

“I choose to remain quiet on this matter until all procedures are completed. But I have, indeed, been approached by Hammers and we will map the way forward,” he said.

Ikwanga was at Karonga United with Luka Milanzi as his assistant some two seasons ago.

If the coach signs for Hammers, his first assignment will be in the FDH Bank Cup round-of-32 at Karonga Stadium Saturday.
