National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has donated K3 million to the Malawi Law Society (MLS) to go towards preparations for the Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated for next month in Mangochi.
The AGM will be held under the theme ‘Interrogating Malawi Electoral System Towards 2025 General Elections.’
NBM Senior Legal Manager Mercy Mulele said the bank recognizes the importance of the Society’s mission in advancing the legal profession and upholding the principles of justice and democracy in Malawi hence the donation.
“At NBM, we are proud to stand alongside the MLS as partners in this journey towards a more just and equitable society. It is with great pleasure that we present this symbolic cheque, representing our sponsorship of the AGM and annual conference with a contribution of K3 million. This gesture symbolizes our unwavering commitment to supporting the legal profession and promoting positive change within our community,” Mulele said.

MLS Chief Executive Officer Chrispine Ngunde said the conference will discuss current electoral laws and make suggestions to the Malawi Electoral Commission and other stakeholders.
“The donation is a big boost as you know since last year November the Kwacha has lost significant value and the Malawi Law Society just depends on donations and subscription from members to run the affairs of the society. The AGM costs money which we cannot raise on our own without the support of strategic partners like National Bank so the support will go a long way to help us achieve our goal,” Ngunde said.
