NBS Bank plc has signed a 10-year agreement with Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to sponsor the annual MDF Veterans Golf Tournament.
The event, commonly known as Thanksgiving Golf Tournament, is held every year to recognise military veterans’ contributions.
NBS Bank Chief Executive Officer Temwani Simwaka described the agreement as a reflection of the bank’s commitment to national development and social responsibility.
“As a bank, we recognise that the peace and progress we enjoy today are built on the sacrifices of our veterans. This partnership is about honouring that service and playing our part in supporting their well-being,” Simwaka said.

MDF Chief General George Jaffu said the agreement is expected to enhance stability and expansion of the tournament in the coming years.
“We are assured that our veterans are in safe hands now that NBS is offering this support. Those people are lacking essential needs, so it is necessary that people and organisations should come in and support them as NBS has done,” Jaffu said.
