South African singer Nkosazana Daughter, real name Nkosazana Nolwazi Kimberly Nzama, returns to Malawi for the second time this weekend.
Having debuted in Malawi two years ago at Lilongwe Golf Club during the launch of Soldier Lucius Banda’s Love and Hate album, the singer will this time perform at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), sharing the stage with the country’s stars of Onesimus and Praise Umali tomorrow during the launch of a Castel Malawi lifestyle beer Pomme Breeze.
Nkosazana Daughter gained national recognition after she released her 14-track debut album that featured notable artists such as DJ Maphorisa, Makhadzi and Master KG, among others.
Entertainers Promotions, which is managing the launch party on behalf of Castel Malawi, said yesterday that the show was all about giving people another experience with the Pomme Breeze.
“The show is all about launching Pomme Breeze, one of the alcoholic drinks that have been added to the Castel Malawi brands and it targets ladies but men are also enjoying it,” Entertainers Promotions’ Director Tonderai Banda said yesterday.
Tonderai said on top of delighting in the lifestyle beer, they decided to fuse it with music, hence engaging Nkosazana, Onesimus and Praise Umali.
“We are bringing Nkosazana because she is the queen of Amapiano, a genre that is trending right now, and we thought she is the best artist to perform. It is the same with Onesimus, who is trending with ‘Controller’ and, likewise, Praise Umali,” he said.
Tonderai said the South African singer, who is excited to perform in Malawi once again, will arrive on Saturday. Apart from the three acts, Tonderai said they also have DJs including DJ Bubblegum.
Onesimus, better known as African Butter, said yesterday that he was looking forward to the event.
“I am prepared and happy to share the stage with Praise Umali and Nkosazana Daughter,” he said.
Umali the ‘Ku Tiyeni’ maker also said he was excited to be sharing the stage with the two artists.
“I will be performing with my whole band this time around; so, people will get to have a full live experience of my music. I am ready,” the singer and guitarist said.
