TNM Super League leaders Mighty Wanderers have said their technical panel is assessing squad depth ahead of their participation in this year’s Caf Confederation Cup.
Recently, Confederation of African Football gave the greenlight to Wanderers and Silver Strikers to represent Malawi in the Confederation Cup and Caf Champions League, respectively.
The go-ahead and adjustment of participation subvention to US$100,000 from US$50,000 has excited the Blantyre giants to push forward with plans to play in Africa.

Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi said their technical panel is assessing players and areas that require reinforcement.
“The coaches are drafting the squad for this big competition and if there are some areas of need, we will take it from there,” Ndovi said.

He also said that the club is motivated with the continental football governing body’s revision of participation subvention, saying this will help them prepare well for the competition.
“Although the money is given after the competition, it is however a boost to teams taking part,” Ndovi said.
He said the Nomads are currently working on their budget which includes travel expenses, accommodation and allowances.
“The budget for continental football is different from the rest of the budgets as it involves many stakeholders. But we will conclude the budget and see how much we will need to compete in this tournament,” Ndovi added.

Football analyst Parly Chinyama said there is need for Wanderers to build a winning mentality that goes beyond participating in the continental showpiece.
“At the moment the Nomads have got quality players but it may be a different environment when playing in the Confederation Cup. But Wanderers have an advantage at this level as some of their stars play in the national team which provides them with international exposure,” Chinyama said.
Caf is yet to announce dates for the draw of the 2025/26 Confederation Cup and Champions League.
The Nomads qualified for the Confederation Cup after winning the Castel Challenge Cup while Silver won the TNM Super League to make it into the Champions League.
