Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have written the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to level the playing field by making sure that all teams play the same number of games to avoid match fixing.
The development comes as Wanderers are expected to face rivals and TNM Super League leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in a second round match on Sunday.
However, Wanderers acting Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira was quick to say that the agenda of the letter was not to stop Sulom from staging their match against Bullets.
Both Wanderers and Bullets have accumulated 53 points but the defending champions top the table on goal difference.
Mpinganjira said there must fairness, in terms of the number of matches to be matches to be played by all Super League teams, to avoid influencing results following Bullets’ three matches in hand.

“The letter is not explaining that the derby should be postponed but it narrates the importance of balancing the game to avoid match fixing.
“Look; some teams will not have any desire to play their matches, more especially those that have been relegated,” Mpinganjira said.
Both Sulom Chief Executive Officer Faith Mzungu and Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga were not available for comments.
In the first round, the sides drew 0-0.
