Old Mutual Malawi has remitted K50 billion in taxes to the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) for the 2025 financial year.
The firm held a symbolic cheque presentation to the revenue-collection body in Blantyre yesterday.
Old Mutual Malawi Group Chief Executive Officer Tavona Biza reiterated the company’s commitment to contributing to Malawi’s growth strides.
Biza said the payment reflected the company’s long-standing responsibility as a corporate citizen, having operated in Malawi for over seven decades.
“Paying taxes is a reflection of our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen. Having operated in Malawi for 72 years, we recognise our duty to contribute to national development through such obligations,” he said.

He said consistent tax compliance was central to supporting the government’s programmes and driving socio-economic growth in the country.
MRA Commissioner General Felix Tambulasi commended Old Mutual Malawi for its continued compliance, describing the contribution as both significant and exemplary.
“We welcome this payment because it also encourages others to pay their taxes on time,” Tambulasi said.
He said timely tax payments by corporations played a crucial role in strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation, which, he said, was key to funding public services and infrastructure development.
