FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will foot Peter Banda’s medical expenses as the player is set to undergo surgery in Kenya next week.
Bullets disclosed this after re-signing the attacker on a three-year deal.
The People’s Team chief executive officer (CEO) Albert Chigoga said they expect Banda to recover by February next year.
“It will take approximately three months,” Chigoga said.
Chigoga said they were hopeful that Banda would recover as former Flames defender James Sangala had the same injury but he recovered within three months.
Banda expressed gratitude to Bullets for paying his medical bills and re-signing him.
“This is what I was hoping for. I am looking forward to getting the treatment so I can repay the club,” Banda said.
On his part, Sangala said he suffered a similar injury when Malawi met DR Congo on October 11 2008.
“Surgery is the only way for Banda to get better. It troubled me for two years. I could not play without strapping the shoulder. The shoulder could dislocate during the game and only the doctor could replace it. I was subjected to excruciating pain for those few minutes waiting for the doctor to come into the field. But after replacing it, I used to play on and finish the game,” he said.
According to Wikipedia, the injury is also known as Rotator cuff tear.
“It is an injury to the muscles and tendons that stabilizes the shoulder joint. It causes pain and weakness and affects how much you can move your shoulder or use your arm,” it read.
Banda recently returned home from Zambia after Red Arrows decided against signing the player after they discovered the injury.
