Piksy continues to make headlines in his music career with his latest step seeing his track ‘Anana’ being used at the 2023 United Nations (UN) Population Award ceremony in New York, United States of America, on Wednesday.
The song, in which Piksy speaks about his musical journey and praises God, was used during the presentation of an institutional award which went to African Institute for Development Policy (Afidep) and was received by founder and executive director Eliyah Zulu.
Earlier own, another song was also used during the presentation of an individual award.
The gathering, which was the first meeting since 2019, seeks to, among others, celebrate the importance of population issues.
Piksy’s manager Wisdom Phanga said Thursday that the United Nations called them asking for the rights to use the song “because they believed it was in tandem with the event”.
“We signed the document granting them the rights to use it on the function and at UNTV. This means more to Piksy and Malawi and it is a recognition that tells it all that there is talent in Malawi,” he said.
Phanga added that Piksy felt honoured that his song was played at the event.
“This is huge for him; he felt honoured to have his song picked for such a huge international event,” he said.
Piksy has crafted a number of theme songs aimed at bringing awareness on different issues affecting society.
He recently announced during a Food Festival in Blantyre that he would be supporting budding artists as part of helping in growing the creative industry
