Police Tuesday rounded up three women, including a police officer, for allegedly circulating false and malicious information on ongoing investigations into Lilongwe murder cases.
Malawi Police Service spokesperson Peter Kalaya identified the suspects as Mercy Chiligo, Chipiriro Kalima and Inspector Susan Kachinga.
He said they were arrested in the cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe.

In an audio clip that went viral on Sunday, one of the suspects is heard making unsubstituted allegations on the arrest of Lester Maganga, who is alleged to have killed Allan Witika.
Witika was found dead in his car in Lilongwe’s Area 15 in September this year.
According to the clip, one woman is heard claiming that she got information from her workmate who is a friend of a detective in the Malawi Police Service.
Apart from the Witika murder issue, the woman in the clip also made some unsubstantiated allegations about the death of Agnes Katengeza, a Reserve Bank of Malawi former employee.
