The Malawi National Netball Team will not underrate minnows Kenya to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2024 Africa Netball Cup in Namibia, officials have said.
The two teams will meet in a Pool 1 match at MTC Dome in Swakopmund this evening.
The Queens have two points and must beat Kenya to join South Africa in the semi-finals. The Queens are smarting from a 65-35 comprehensive beating at the hands of Spar Proteas.
As such, winning convincingly against Kenya should be the ultimate mission. Following the loss, Queens Co-coach Mary Waya said they took positives from their defeat and hope to see improvements when they date Kenya.
“We had a lot of turnovers, which stopped us from scoring more baskets.

“We will rectify the mistakes before we face Kenya,” Waya, who is managing the Queens alongside Peace Chawinga- Kaluwa, said.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary Yamikani Khungwa- Kauma said the Queens were eager to secure a semi-final slot.
“The team had a good recovery session and everyone is looking forward to the match.
“We are not underrating our counterparts. The idea is to qualify for the semi-finals,” she said.

Despite a promising start against Spar Proteas, the Queens watched the match go beyond their reach.
The technical panel will have to decide whether to start with shooter Tendai Masamba ahead of Nancy Mwaulambo after the Blue Eagles shooter struggled against South Africa.
In defence, the Queens will likely maintain the same players Towera Vinkhumbo, Martha Dambo and Grace Mwafulirwa while centre court Takondwa Lwazi and winger attacker Thandie Galeta will possibly be in the team.
