South African veteran gospel musician Rebecca Malope, widely known as ‘The Queen of Gospel’, will jet into the country on Friday with a 13-member team alongside her engineer ahead of the Blessings Gospel concert to be held at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Malope will perform at the concert alongside Uganda’s Colifixe and Zambia’s Abel Chungu, who will arrive in the country on Thursday.

Blessings Gospel concert has been organised by Jacobs Events, led by gospel musician Wendy Harawa.
“We are excited to have Rebecca Malope, Colifixe and Abel Chungu. They will all perform with a band and, so, people are in for a treat with live performances. Rebecca is geared and she has assured us that she will perform all the songs that people would want her to dish out,” Wendy said.
Malope, whose music career spans more than three decades and has sold at least 10 million albums worldwide, will be performing in the country not for the first time.

Last time the gospel songstress, famed for songs such as ‘Angigweda’, was in the country was at Blantyre Arts Festival (Baf) at Blantyre Cultural Centre in 2015 when she was among the international headliners.
“I have grown up listening to her music and she has been my greatest inspiration,” Wendy said.
The gospel artist leads the line-up of local acts to share the stage with Malope, Colifixe and Chungu. The others are Kondwani Chirwa and Great Angels Choir.
“Through this platform, we want souls to be blessed. This gathering is to activate all our blessings,” she said.
