Malawi National Women’s Football Team replicated Monday’s 17-0 total demolition of Seychelles in a friendly match played at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre ahead of the 2023 women’s Cosafa Cup.
The Scorchers hammered the visitors with a similar score line during the first match and the second win means Malawi have clobbered the visitors 34-0.
The two wins give the Scorchers great confidence ahead of next week’s kickoff of the regional tournament in South Africa.
Malawi were a changed side during Thursday’s match, with coach Lovemore Fazili bringing in several new faces.
The newcomers did not disappoint as it took them just seven minutes to hit the back of the net through runner Asimenye Simwaka before Mary Chavinda doubled the lead.

Gladys Kandodo and Chimwemwe Madise were next on the score sheet, with Chavinda returning to net the fifth goal.
Ruth Nyirongo nailed the sixth goal in the 24th minute and it was clear that the visitors would have another time in hell.
It was such a hot afternoon that the match had to be stopped for a water break. Immediately after resumption, Tendai Sani scored the seventh goal for Malawi, with the eighth coming from Simwaka in the 41st minute.
Chavinda returned to net the ninth goal for Malawi with three minutes to half time and the two teams went for recess with Malawi leading 9-0.

In the second half, Chavinda continued with her sterling form, netting Malawi’s 10th goal while Carol Mathyola made it 11- 0.
In the 58th minute, Mlimbika scored straight from a cornerkick to make it 12-0 before returning with Malawi’s 13th goal.
Mlimbika continued to haunt the visitors and shook the net again with the Scorchers’ 14th goal, and then registered a quick hat-trick to take Malawi’s goal tally to 12.
Jessie Yosefe came with the 15th goal before Chavinda added the 16th.
Bernadeta Nyenga wrapped up the day with the 17th goal in stoppage time.
Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili said the two matches have helped him to sharpen his players ahead of the Cosafa tournament.
“I am impressed with the way the girls have performed during these two matches. They were all up for the game and I am sure the team I will select will perform well in South Africa,” Fazili said.
Seychelles coach Florence Marie said they were not worried with the results as they are building a team.
“We excused ourselves for Cosafa to start building a team. We thank Football Association of Malawi for accepting our request to come here and play these two matches. Next time, we will try our best to reduce the goal margin,” Marie said.
Malawi are in Group A of the competition alongside hosts South Africa, Madagascar and eSwatini.
