The 27-year-old singer and songwriter, who began his music career in 2011, has released a string of popular songs that have resonated with his fans.
The tracks include ‘No Reverse’, ‘My Zoe’ and ‘Muyende Nane’.
President Lazarus Chakwera, who presided over the Mubas’ first congregation since it was de-linked from the University of Malawi— and was also installed as the university’s chancellor—urged the 114 students that received academic credentials to consider venturing into entrepreneurship.
“My dream is that you will marry the innovations you are going to create, using the skills you have gained here, with a spirit of entrepreneurship in order to turn your innovations into wealth creation engines that create jobs for other Malawians,” he said.
The President also said he is pleased that innovations have been contributing to the development of the country.
“When I look at development projects that we are carrying out across the country, I feel excited at how much the face of Malawi will change over the next few years. But when I look at those projects, I also see the indispensable role that innovators will play in the achievement of our developmental goals,” Chakwera said.
The President further described the graduation as a dividing line between the past and the future of education at the institution.
“Today, we leave behind a past that focused on educating our youth to occupy a desk in an office, and we press on towards a future that focuses on educating our youth to build industries. Today, we leave behind a past that focused on making this institution dependent on the State, and we press on towards a future that focuses on transforming this institution into a self-reliant and self-sufficient bastion of research and progress,” Chakwera said.
Mubas Vice Chancellor Nancy Chitera said it is pleasing that the institution has been flying high by producing graduates who have been making a difference on the market.
