HOPING TO TURN FORTUNES AROUND— Silver
SHARE

TNM Super League defending champions Silver Strikers are working on lifting their players’ spirits as they prepare to face in-form Ekhaya FC at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe Saturday.

Silver are fresh from an Airtel Top 8 final loss to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.

The Central Bankers’ coach Peter Mgangira said it would not be an easy task to work on his players’ psychology after losing the cup final.

“We have now switched our focus to defending the league title. I remain confident that the players will do everything possible to win the match. We went back to training after losing the cup final but look, we still have chances of turning the tables around.

“Yes we are facing a good side at the moment but we have no choice apart from winning the game. So we need to do everything possible to win this match,” Mgangira said.

The match will be a fight for third place which Ekhaya took over from Silver after beating Moyale 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.

Lying on fourth position with 20 points from 11 matches, Silver are three points behind Ekhaya who have 23 points from 13 fixtures.

Ekhaya coach Enos Chatama said facing Silver will give them an idea of what to expect from the league’s big teams in the second round.

The rookies will be hoping for a better result after narrowly losing 1-0 to giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers.

But Chatama believes his charges have all it takes to claim maximum points away from home.

“We are well prepared and geared to play against Silver. It will be an exciting game. I know they will come flat out following the bad result in their last match but we will play to make a statement in the league,” he said.

Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi has rescheduled the match between Moyale and Mighty Wanderers from Sunday to tomorrow at Rumphi Ground.

The full fixture list for this weekend is as follows:

Tomorrow

Karonga United vs Creck SC @ Karonga

Mighty Tigers vs Civil Service United @ Kamuzu

Silver Strikers vs Ekhaya @ Silver

Moyale vs Wanderers @ Rumphi

Sunday
