Malawi national football team striker Richard Mbulu has joined Uniao Desportiva Do Songo on a one-year contract.
Mbulu moved to Songo at the end of his contract with another Mozambican club Costa Do Sol where he played for two seasons.
In an interview Friday, Mbulu said it was a dream come true to join the Songo based club.
“I am very excited to start a new chapter in my football career. This is one of the biggest teams in Mozambique. I will work hard to help the club win trophies,’’ Mbulu said.

Mbulu, who had a stint with Portuguese second division side Sanjoanense Sports Association in 2018, rejoined Costa in 2023 for a third time after leaving Baroka FC in South Africa.
He also came close to joining Iraqi top-flight side Al Najf in August 2022. But the deal fell through after MDF reportedly refused to release him.
Last season, he was one of the key member for Costa having scored six goals as the team finished third with 44 points from 22 matches, seven points behind champions Black Bulls.
Meanwhile, Malawian attacking midfielder Yamikani Chester has also been linked with Songo after leaving Costa do Sol in the just ended season.

But Chester is yet to announce his next destination. The exit of both Mbulu and Chester from Costa means there is only two Malawian players at the Maputo based club namely Lloyd Njaliwa and Chikoti Chirwa.
In a related development, former Flames striker Khuda Muyaba has joined Venda FC in South Africa on a one-year contract.
