Students on Saturday took a break from their academic work when they showed up for the Mo626 Southern Region Inter- College Social Weekend at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) campus in Blantyre.
The students that patronised the social weekend came from the University of Malawi (Unima), Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must), Catholic University of Malawi (Cunima) and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes).
From the first beat to the final song, the audience partied all the way from Saturday night to the early hours of Sunday.
There were other events in the commercial city of Blantyre, including the Magician Butter Music Experience, a stone throw from Mubas on the same day but the social weekend pulled its own audience.

The Mo626 Southern Region Inter-College Social Weekend kicked off with the Tiphwasuke Costume Party, which set the tone for the event.
Adding excitement and incentive to the event, National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc rewarded the top three best-dressed men and women with K250,000 each.
After the costume party, the event, hosted by MC Sambwita, turned to performances, with artists sharing the stage.
The artists included Malonie Kyz, famed for the track ‘Sizinantole’, Ace Jizzy alongside Bee Jay, Kell Kay, Gwamba, who made a surprise appearance, and IKK.

The other acts were Crispy alongside Mario Bros, Joe Ikon and Amapiano mayor Zeze Kingston, who closed the chapter.
Kelly Kay offered songs such as ‘Ndivailira’, ‘Loss’, ‘Finca’ and ‘Ndatopa’.
But a standout moment came when he performed ‘Mwano’, a track that rekindled memories of fallen rapper Martse.
It was during Kell Kay’s set that Gwamba made a surprise appearance, igniting energy among fun lovers.
IKK, who has been trending in recent times, also had his share of momentum with Joe Ikon taking over and he, too, was explosive, dishing out songs such as ‘Nkhawa Ndilibe’, ‘Ndasangalala’ and ‘Oneni’.
Zeze Kingston was the last to perform in the early hours of Sunday, dropping songs such as ‘Ndilira Mu Mvula’, ‘Kusangalala’ and ‘Achisale’.
NBM Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager Akossa Mphepo-Hiwa said the bank would continue to engage young people in meaningful and relatable ways.
“We, as a bank, believe in inclusive banking, meeting people where they are and connecting with them through platforms that matter to them. The Mo626 initiative allows us to engage students beyond traditional banking spaces while celebrating their creativity, energy and aspirations,” she said.
