Malawi Women’s National Football Team striker Temwa Chawinga continues to hog the limelight as she has surpassed her sister Tabitha’s goal tally in a single season in the Chinese Women’s Super League.
Temwa scored a hat-trick for Wuhan Jiandga Women in an 8-0 thumping of Beijing Biekong Women on Friday.
This means Temwa has scored 22 goals in the league this season—beating Tabitha’s record of 17 goals in 2017.
Temwa is also on course to win her third golden boot award in one season, having clinched the Chinese Football Association golden boot award with 15 goals and the Chinese National Cup top scorer award with six goals.
In total, she has scored 43 goals for Wuhan in all competitions this season.

In an interview Sunday, Temwa said her aim is to help the club retain the Chinese Women’s Championship.
’’I am happy to be scoring goals in each and every game. This great performance is coming from my teammates’ support and I am very grateful to them,’’ she said.
The former DD Sunshine striker also won the Chinese Women’s golden boot award with 10 goals last season.
She moved to China after scoring 59 goals in 57 matches for Kvarnvedens in Sweden.

Her elder sister Tabitha is also back in China after a successful season-long loan deal at Inter Milan Women in Italy where she made history by becoming the first African female player to win the golden boot award with 23 goals in 21 matches.
Meanwhile, Tabitha is scoring for fun in China.
She is currently wanted by several big clubs in Europe following her impressive performance for Inter.
Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili said it is exciting that the sisters continue to perform well.
“This is very good for our game. I am sure such performances will inspire more girls to work hard in the game,’’ Fazili said.
Tabitha has a good record in China, where she has won the player of the season award twice.
