Mighty Mukuru Wanderers president Thom Mpinganjira Friday exercised his powers when he named a new board for the team.
Mpinganjira has reshuffled the board by including former Super League of Malawi president Tiya Somba Banda, the team’s former general secretary David Kanyenda, Times Group Editor-at-Large Madalitso Musa and Andrex Kalinde.
Lawyer Chancy Gondwe, Mervis Mangulenje, Limbani Magomero and Christopher Gondwe have been retained.
Former parliamentarian Clement Stambuli, Malawi Congress Party’s Member of Parliament for Ntchisi South Ulemu Jemoth Chilapondwa and political commentator Humphreys Mvula have been left out.
Former Wanderers supporters’ committee chairperson Mervin Nkunika has also been left out.

According to the letter which Mpinganjira signed there will also be a representative from sponsors Ekhaya Farm Foods and Mukuru.
The board has been given a two year term.
On his part, Somba Banda, who lost his Sulom presidency to Fleetwood Haiya [now Football Association of Malawi President], said he was humbled by the appointment.
“I wish to thank Dr Mpinganjira for trusting me with the role of board member and I can only pay him back by helping my board members bring back the lost glory in the team,” Somba Banda said

Meanwhile, Mvula, who once served as board Secretary before Chancy Gondwe took over, said he leaves his position a happy man.
“I am very happy to have left Wanderers where it is now. We are now a commercial entity something which was not easy to establish. We also have a Chief Executive Officer in the company,” he said.
Mvula however pointed out that there is need for the new board to improve the team’s performance and also put a secretariat in place if the team is to grow further.
On his part, Stambuli said he is not bitter and congratulated the newly appointed members.
“I am Wanderers and I am blue. I thank Dr Mpinganjira for giving me an opportunity to serve the team. That was the second time I served Wanderers I wish the team well,” Stambuli said.
