The Board of Directors of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football Club (2021) has been dissolved with immediate effect, the club announced Friday.

Wanderers president Thomson Mpinganjira, who is also the board chairperson signed the letter on Thursday, indicating that the board was dissolved following resolution by the majority of the shareholders of the company.

MPINGANJIRA—I do not have any other information

“Following resolution of the Board, all matters requiring the attention of the Board shall be directed to the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Roosevelt Mpinganjira. All members of the dissolved Board are requested to consult the Acting Chief Executive Officer for appropriate arrangements if any,’’ reads part of the letter.

This comes just a few weeks after the club also dissolved the technical panel for the senior team. Head coach Mark Harrison resigned from the club just hours after they lost 4-2 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on post-match penalties in the semi-final of the 2023 Castel Challenge Cup at Kamuzu Stadium.

In an interview Friday, Mpinganjira (Roosevelt) said he was not aware of the reasons for dissolving the board.

“I only got communication that the Board of Directors has been dissolved. I do not have any other information,” he said.

The Nomads finished the season empty handed for the second time in three years.

They finished third in the TNM Super League with 55 points, five points behind Bullets.

When contacted yesterday, Clement Stambuli, who was Chairperson of Commercialisation, Public Relations and Media Liaison was reluctant to comment on the matter.

Sports analyst Parry Chinyama said it was long overdue.

“The next step is to ensure that the new board is constituted in time so that it does not affect the operations of the team. Finally, whoever is appointing the new board should ensure that he selects people who can run football not those who seem to run football for the team,’’ Chinyama said.

The board comprised Chancy Gondwe, who was the legal advisor and company secretary, Chairperson of Finance Mervis Mangulenje, Chairperson of Football Development Limbani Magomero, Humphreys Mvula, Adellaide Migogo (both Directors) and Jeremoth Chilapondwa ex-official member.
