Since gaining its first follower in May 2011, the Times 360 Malawi Facebook page is now celebrating a milestone: It reached one million followers Thursday.
The Times Group Editor-in-Chief Pilirani Kachinziri described the development as a significant marker of the media giant’s growing influence in the digital media landscape.
Kachinziri noted that the milestone reflected not only popularity but also the trust people had in Times 360 Malawi, which he described as a source of credible information, breaking news and engaging content across multiple platforms.
“This achievement highlights The Times Group’s success in adapting to the evolving media consumption trends,” he said, adding that followers could look forward to more personalised content, increased interaction with news stories and broader coverage of national news.
“For advertisers, this milestone offers greater opportunities for brand visibility and audience engagement,” he said.

Commenting on the milestone, one of the followers, Oscar Lemon, said the development was long overdue.
He asked The Times Group management to consider unlocking its comment section to make the page more exciting.
“You have to unlock your settings to allow fans to comment with photos or videos in the comments section… this will make the page more exciting,” he wrote.
Another follower, Alick Ngozo, said it was because of the page’s consistency and determination in covering stories that appeal to the public.

She said the Times 360 Malawi Facebook page had been striving to offer just such products.
“Times is amazing. Hard work[ing] and dedicated journalists. Always crazy to get and cover top spots with amazing chain between management on the other end. Congratulations,” she said.
As of August this year, there were about 1.6 million Facebook users in Malawi, with the age bracket of 18 to 24 being the highest user group.
Established in 1895, The Times Group continues to expand its reach across multiple platforms, which include Times Television, Times Radio, The Daily Times, Malawi News and The Sunday Times.
