All eyes are on Kanengo Auction Floors in Lilongwe this morning as the 2026 tobacco marketing season opens under a mix of optimism from farmers and growing concern over oversupply and weakening global demand.
Estimates from the Tobacco Commission (TC) show growers are set to deliver about 197 million kilogrammes (kg) of tobacco to auction floors across the country this year.
