As poets look ahead to the World Poetry Day on Saturday, renowned poet and broadcaster Yankho Seunda has unveiled themes for his album @ 35.
The album will be launched on August 1, 2026 at Apollo Auditorium in Blantyre.
World Poetry Day is celebrated on March 21 annually and was declared by Unesco with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard.
Seunda, a former chairperson of Vilipanganga Poetry Movement said Wednesday that the poetry collection explores a wide range of socially and culturally relevant themes including gender-based violence, love, governance, mental health, culture, family and nature.
“We are living in a time when social issues are often fast killing us before we identify and act on creative ways to healthily combat them and progress as a people and the nation at large,” he said.

Seunda said his project tackles these matters creatively.
He said that in the lead-up to the launch, poetry lovers should expect a series of promotional poetry releases from the album, with individual pieces set to be unveiled gradually in the coming weeks.
“The releases will give audiences a preview of a body of work designed to provoke thought, inspire conversation, and highlight the power of spoken word poetry,” he said.
Seunda has since announced that tickets for the launch are now on sale adding that the event is also open to sponsorship.

“I am open for collaborations with organisations and partners to support the initiative as it seeks to celebrate poetry, culture and social reflection,” he said.
