The 2024 TNM Super League has started with twists and turns as 16 goals have been registered, compared to eight in the 2023 season, during the opening weekend.
Out of the eight fixtures that were played over the weekend, there were six wins and two draws.
Debutants Creck Sporting Club have started the campaign on a flying note as they scored three goals to be the highest scoring team during the opening week.
Creck beat Mighty Tigers 3-1 while Moyale Barracks and Silver Strikers scored two goals each.

Hadji Wali, Dalitso Nahipa, Babanginya Ishaya, William Kumwembe, Masambero Kalua, Zeliat Nkhoma, Isaac Msiska, Blessings Mwalilino, Promise Kamwendo, Ephraim Kondowe, Charles Nkhoma, Raphael Phiri, Bernard Chimimba, Hassan Luwembe, Adiel Kaduya and Binwell Katinji were also on target for their respective clubs.
Following the opening week’s results, Creck top the log table with three points after tying on three points each with Silver [second], Moyale [third], Fomo [fourth], Karonga [fifth] and Mzuzu City Hammers [sixth].
Meanwhile, Creck Coach MacDonald Mtetemera refused to get carried away with the win.
“It was very nice. These guys are very young. Yes we scored two goals and you can see that, after scoring the scored goal, we packed in our own half and that was inviting them to attack us. We will work on that to continue with our attacking football,” Mtetemera said.
Similarly, Silver Coach Peter Mponda, while praising his charges, said it was too early to start discussing the issue of title. “Congratulations to the boys for a job well done. It is too early to start talking about winning the league title. We are in this competition to win but we are taking each game at a time. This is the first game and we still have 29 games to go,” Mponda said.
