Despite finishing the 2023 season empty-handed, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers players have all the reasons to smile after the team settled outstanding players’ signing on fees arrears amounting to the K32 million.

someone who believes in motivating players
Wanderers President Thomson Mpinganjira confirmed the development saying it is one way of motivating the players ahead of the new season.
“We had to settle everything to start afresh. I want them to win the league and two cups this season. We are a team with good players who are capable of winning anything locally and I think this is the right time.
“I am someone who believes in motivating players and we are hoping for the better,” Mpinganjira said.
Wanderers captain Stanley Sanudi did not pick our calls but one of the team’s players, Miracle Gabeya, confirmed the development.

“We have all been sorted, but you can contact the captain because he speaks on behalf of the team,” Gabeya, who left FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to join Wanderers, said.
Meanwhile, Mpinganjira, through Ekhaya Farm Foods, and Mukuru have now invested about K1.3 billion from 2021 to December 2023 to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2021 Limited.
According to the team’s sponsorship report from January 2021 ending December 2023, which Malawi News Sport has seen, shows that 70 percent of the sponsorship has been paid by Ekhaya having pumped in K895,671,224 while co-sponsors Mukuru injected K361,057,684 representing 28 percent of the sponsorship.
Salima Sugar Company invested K30 million before their relationship with the Nomads ended in 2022 representing two percent of the sponsorship.

Former Wanderers vice chairperson Chris Kananji, while appreciating the move by the club on settling of players bonuses and the amount spent for past three years, cautioned behaviour of some of the team’s supporters.
“Mpinganjira has helped Wanderers through Ekhaya. No team in the country has done what our president is doing. No team has paid all the teams signing on fees without having balances.
“It is now up to the supporters to behave and not disappoint our biggest sponsor,” Kananji said.
Wanderers finished third in the league last season and got booted in all major cups including Castel Challenge Cup, FDH Bank Cup and Airtel Top 8.
