The Electricity Generation Company (Egenco) has cited foreign exchange shortages among major constraints to electricity generation, with delays in procuring critical spare parts, leaving some units to operate below capacity.
In a press release published on Tuesday, the company said most of the challenges affecting its hydropower generation units have been caused by delays in procuring critical spare parts over the past two to three years due to foreign exchange challenges.
