FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are closing in on the TNM Super League title after coming from behind to beat Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 3-2 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The win saw Bullets opening a three-point gap at the top of the league with 53 points from 24 matches.
Their bitter rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers remain second with 50 points from 26 fixtures.
On a hot Wednesday afternoon, KB settled down quickly in the first half, with midfielders Levison Maganizo, Chimwemwe Chisambi and Gregory Nachipo outshining their Bullets’ counterparts Blessing Mpokera and Chawanangwa Gumbo.
It came as no surprise then that the soldiers took the lead through Olson Kanjira’s header after Maganizo did the spadework.

Bullets continued to struggle, with Gumbo and Mpokera failing to put their act together.
It was clear that the People’s Team was missing the services of enterprising midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu and Ernest Petro.
The creativity that Mwaungulu and Petro bring into the team was evidently missing and KB looked good enough to collect full points.
The visitors held on to the slender lead until half time.

Bullets came into the second half a changed side and scored two goals in three minutes through Ephraim Kondowe and Maxwell Phodo to lead 2-1.
But KB equalised through Kanjira, who grabbed his second of the match.
At a time the two teams looked like they would share the spoils, Lanjesi Nkhoma netted the third goal, which decided the match’s final result in Bullets’ favour.
Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa described the match as tough.
“Playing against the soldiers was quite tough indeed. Yes I am very happy with the win but it was not an easy game. Once again, the players showed some signs of fatigue. We did not have Mwaungulu and Petro and we lacked stability at the centre. But what matters most is the fact that we have won and congratulations to my boys,” Pasuwa said.
His counterpart Alick Chirwa blamed his charges for allowing Bullets to camp in their area in the second half.
“Giving away the lead was quite disappointing after controlling a good part of the game,” Chirwa said.
