The Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa) Malawi Chapter 2023 Fundraising Dinner and Dance will be held Saturday at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe with musician Faith Mussa set to perform.
Misa Malawi Chairperson Golden Matonga Thursday called upon media practitioners and various players to patronise the dinner and dancer that seeks to raise funds for the construction of a training centre at Mtolankhani House, which is at roofing stage.
“We will use the funds raised, to complete the project and turn it into a modern state of the art facility,” Matonga said.
The dinner and dance is running under the theme ‘Media As A Strategic Partner for Private Sector Growth and Viability’.

“We have Faith Mussa performing at the dinner and dance and we settled for him because we wanted an artist, who can appeal to our corporate partners, members and the public but also at the same time, was willing to support us beyond just seeing the event as a one-off business opportunity,” Matonga said.
He said Faith has been generous to make a donation to the course from his own appearance fees.
The Misa chairperson said they settled for the dinner and dance because it is an event where the media and corporate world could come together and engage positively on how best they could support one another for the mutual benefit of both players.
“We wanted this in an environment which is relaxed and festive but that will enable deep and critical dialogue. But at the same time, we want both sides to take stock on the year and reimagine their relationship while also crucially supporting efforts to build our training centre,” Matonga said.

Apart from the fun, Matonga, said they have also lined up a guest list that includes keynote speakers coming from the world of business, industry leaders, representatives of the highest levels of government and media gurus.
He then hailed various players for their sponsorship towards the event and they include State House, Office of the Vice President, FDH, TNM, Nico, Thom and Barbra Mpinganjira Foundation, Malawi Lottery and Gaming Board and Macra.
Meanwhile, Faith has said he was looking forward to give patrons a treat of authentic music.
“The media has created us. They have promoted us and this is why I am part of it. I have even gone further and contributed towards the event. That is how connected I am,” the ‘Mdidi’ star said.
