Balaka-based musical group Alleluya Band leaves the country on May 12, 2026 for their yearly Italy tour.
The band is, this year, expected to hold 60 gigs. The group’s leader Paul Subili confirmed the development Tuesday.
He said their itinerary included meeting friends of Alleluya Band that have been in connection with the group since 1978 as well as holding performances.
“We will be there for close to four months before coming back home.
As usual, we go there to raise funds to support Andiamo Comfort Clinic, school fees for needy students and other forms of support to the elderly,” Subili said.

He also said their meeting with friends of Alleluya Band was meant to prepare for next year’s celebration as the group turns 50 years.
“Let me take this opportunity to inform people in the country that, next year, we will be celebrating our golden jubilee and, so, it will be a big event,” Subili said.
He said Alleluya Band has moved through different generations, looking at members such as Sir Paul Banda, who is one of the founders, and his brother Soldier Lucius Banda, Charles Sinetre, Paul Chaphuka and Matthias Kalima.
“Malawians have also been there supporting Alleluya Band and, so, we invite them to be part of the celebration. We will come back to announce the dates,” Subili said.

He said during the trip, they will have a chance of meeting the Pope on June 24, 2026 at the Vatican.
“This year, we also have a celebration for Father Mario Pacific, who is the founder of Alleluya Band. He came to Malawi in 1977 and, thereafter, established the group in 1978. It will be 50 years of his priesthood in October,” Subili said.
