Balaka-based music group Alleluya Band left the country on Monday for their annual Italy tours where they are expected to stay for three months. The group’s band leader Paul Subili said on Monday in Kenya on transit to Italy that they are set to hold 55 shows.
“We are expected back home on September 6 2025 so, we will be in Italy for close to three months. Every year we come to Italy for shows but the tours are for a cause,” Subili said.
He said the tour this time around also coincides with the World Youth Day which is an event for the youth organised by the Catholic Church that was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985. “We will also participate in the World Youth Day which is taking place in Rome, Italy this time,” Subili said.
He said the tours have played a crucial role in supporting various initiatives at Andiamo in Balaka and other areas in the district. “Through the tours, we support Andiamo Comfort Clinic where children under five accesses free medical treatment.
“We also support the technical college and secondary school where we pay school fees for most of the students,” the Alleluya Band leader, who has travelled to Italy several times, said. Subili also said that through the shows they hold in Italy, they also raise funds that support the elderly in the district.

“We also have the Tiyeni Tigawane project where we help street children by sending them back to school and teaching them music,” he said. Alleluya Band which has shaped several musicians also uses the annual Italy tours to fly Malawi’s flag by showcasing the best of the country in terms of music and traditional dances.
Apart from Subili, some of the members that have made the trip include Coss Chiwalo, Gertrude Naluso and Sean Taferakaso.
