Despite holding an elective extraordinary general meeting (EGM), another administrative gap has emerged in the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) Executive Committee following the vacancy in the office of the vice president.
The endorsement of Gilbert Mittawa as Sulom President, means that a gap has been created in the office of vice president.
Mittawa said the body would follow the constitution when filling the vacancy.
“The vacant position will follow the constitutional process just as we did with the president’s position,” Mittawa said in a brief response.
Sulom held an EGM in Lilongwe on Saturday when Mittawa was elected president unopposed as 15 clubs nominated him whereas a single side did not make any nomination.

Initially, Mittawa was named Sulom acting President after Fleetwood Haiya was elected Football Association of Malawi President in December last year.
Sulom was forced to hold an EGM when clubs objected to the endorsement of Mittawa during the association’s annual general meeting on March 30.
During the EGM, delegates elected William Nhlane as an Executive Member filling the void which was created when Daud Mtathiko was elected Fam Executive Member.
Meanwhile, sports analyst Frank Chakanga has urged the body to follow the constitution.

“Sulom has a new slogan which is to Revive, Reform and Rebrand the league. Therefore, every stakeholder expects them to do things in accordance with the constitution.
