The government has announced that State Vice- President Jane Ansah’s private trip to the United Kingdom (UK) is scheduled for tomorrow, with a total budget of K168,028,400. It further says a team of five government officials will accompany the Vice President on the journey.
Government spokesperson and Information Minister Shadric Namalomba said this in a statement, hours after discussing the matter on the “Kulinji” radio program on Times Radio.
He said the amount covers all international travel costs, including airfare and allowances for the entire delegation.
Namalomba said yesterday that the trip’s original estimated cost was K298,719,200, but that it was significantly reduced to align with the country’s current economic situation and austerity measures announced in October 2025.
The disclosure is aimed at refuting earlier reports that the trip would cost K1.9 billion for the Vice President and 15 other officials.

Speaking in ‘Kulinji’, the minister said the Vice President’s trip was proceeding and was constitutionally provided for under the President’s Salaries and Benefits Act.
He said the current travel plan was cost-saving, with only five people travelling, and all flying economy class except for the Vice President, as permitted by the Republican Constitution.
