The 10th edition of the biannual Art in the Park started yesterday through to Sunday at Four Seasons in Lilongwe.
Wildlife Environmental Society of Malawi (Wesm) runs the festival with other partners with the aim of showcasing works of visual artists.
Wesm Chairperson Nick Hall said on Wednesday ahead of the launch yesterday which was expected to be presided over by Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda with performances from Mtameni, Soul Jive Band and Theresa Phondo, that over 40 visual artists will showcase their work.
He called upon people to patronise Art in the Park with an aim of discovering how exciting Malawi’s art scene is becoming.
“Through Art in the Park, we want to remind people to support Malawi’s environment and become a member of Wesm. As a member, you will be supporting thousands of children through Wesm’s school wildlife clubs, which are mobilised by teachers that are passionate to get children in environmental activities,” Hall said.
