Arts Sustainability Lab, a youthful theatre outfit, takes to the stage on Sunday to premiere a production titled Half Past Two at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.

The two-act play, starring Shakirah Ephdrina Manjomo and Praise Chigwe, will also start at exacty 2:30pm according to one of the members Jack Msumba.

“Half Past Two is a compelling drama that delves into the complex dynamics of love, revenge and redemption.

“Set against the backdrop of a wealthy family’s business empire, the play follows the intertwined lives of Lekani, a priviledged young woman, and Maganizo, a young man with a hidden agenda,” Msumba explained.

He urged theatre lovers to come in large numbers and sample the production.

“This is also to say that theatre is not dead,” Msumba said.

In another development, visual artist Madalitso Ziwaoh launches his solo exhibition titled ‘Inside Life’ tonight which ends on August 10 2024 at Kaliso Art Gallery in Lilongwe.

Ziwaoh’s exhibition comes barely a week after another visual artist, Ellis Singano, who specialises in batik, launched his exhibition titled ‘Tales of Old Malawi’ at Chambo Market in Lilongwe.

Ziwaoh said on Thursday that his solo exhibition has brought forth 34 paintings.

“This exhibition talks about what people go through in life or life experiences. The ups and downs, the rise, downfall and the rebuilding,” he said.

The visual artist said ‘Inside Life’ has a combination of his new and old paintings.

“In the new works, I am much focused in the light that is illuminating everybody,” he said.
