Struggling TNM Super League outfit Bangwe All Stars have hired the services of former defunct MDC United and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets forward Mapopa Msukwa as the club’s interim head coach.
Msukwa has replaced Christopher Nyambose, who resigned on Monday just three months after signing a seven-month contract with the Blantyre-based side.
According to a statement released by the club Thursday, Msukwa will be handling all training sessions and the team’s next couple of games pending the hiring of a permanent coach.
Bangwe Chief Executive Officer Chikumbutso Mathumba said Joseph Semu will take up the role of assistant to Msukwa.
“We have indeed hired Msukwa as our interim coach. We are hopeful that he will help us to win matches as we are searching for a permanent coach,” Mathumba said.

Msukwa described coaching Bangwe All Stars as a big challenge but said he is ready to take it head on.
“What a big challenge! Especially the time we will be facing Wanderers, who are on position one. But all in all, I am excited to have been entrusted with the responsibility of coaching a Super League side for the first time. I remain optimistic that I will have a good time here,” Msukwa said.
Bangwe are yet to register a win this season as they are bottom on the standings with just a point from three matches.
They started the season with a 1-0 loss to newly promoted Fomo and went on to lose 3-1 to Silver Strikers before drawing 1-1 with Karonga United last Sunday.

Msukwa’s first assignment is a Super League fixture against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
The Caf C coaching licence holder guided Fomo to the Southern Region Football Association League Thumbs Up Premier Division title and automatic promotion to the elite league.
