FCB Nyasa Big Bullets legend Peter Mponda has said the club terminated his contract after he failed to meet some of the set targets.
Bullets announced yesterday that they had parted ways with Mponda, just a day after the club failed to win the 2025 TNM Super League title.
In an interview yesterday, Mponda admitted that failure to win the TNM Super League title was among the reasons behind the termination of his contract.
“The club has terminated the contract. I was tasked to win the league and two cups this season,” Mponda said.
He signed a three-year contract with Bullets before the start of the 2025 season, having dumped Silver Strikers after helping them win their first TNM Super League title in 11 years.

At Bullets, Mponda hit the ground running and delivered the Airtel Top 8 title after beating Silver 5-3 on post-match penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time.
However, Bullets were inconsistent in the TNM Super League, having lost six matches, drawn three and chalked 20 victories.
Mponda said he was disappointed to part ways with the club.
“I am disappointed. I have accepted it and I am moving on. I will be hunting for another job,” he said.

Until Saturday, Bullets were in contention for the TNM Super League title but their hopes ended after a goal-less stalemate with Mighty Tigers at Mpira Stadium on Saturday.
Mighty Wanderers capitalised on Bullets slipup to seal the TNM Super League title with a dominant 6-0 victory over Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium on the same day.
Wanderers won the title with a match to spare as they have 68 points, five points above Bullets.
A Bullets statement yesterday did not indicate the reasons behind the departure of Mponda.
“We are grateful to Peter for his commitment and service during his time with the club and wish him well for the future,” the statement reads.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama said Mponda had done well at Bullets.
“I am surprised with the news. I think he has achieved a lot. Maybe there are some issues,” he said.
Mponda replaced Kalisto Pasuwa at Bullets after the Zimbabwean mentor left the club at the end of the 2024 season.
Pasuwa is now Malawi National Football Team coach.
Bullets announced that assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa will be in charge of the team in the interim until the end of the season.
