Arch rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers registered early arrivals in Lilongwe for their NBS Bank Charity Shield clash at Bingu National Stadium Saturday.
Wanderers were the first to set their foot in the capital on Tuesday, with Bullets arriving Thursday.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga has described the game as huge.
“Playing Wanderers is a huge task that requires special treatment in all aspects. We are expecting our supporters to come in their large numbers and make all the noise so as to motivate the players on the pitch. This is a game we must win.
“It is always a huge game when we meet Wanderers. We expect people to watch a good game. So we are calling on all Malawians to come in their large numbers to support the charitable cause we are advancing.

“They should be part of the goodwill that football has towards various communities across the country. We expect proceeds from the match to impact lives of many in a very significant manner,” Chigoga said.
Wanderers are also treating the first Blantyre derby of the year with the seriousness it deserves, with the appointment of an interim committee specifically for the showdown.
According to a public notice date April 15 and signed by the Nomads’ board secretary Chancy Gondwe, the committee has Bishop Mark Chimwenje, Dyson Musa, Mike Kamanga, Rodrick Chitedze, Gift Masikamu, Gift Mawaya, Shellie Wisiki, Pilirani Kachepa, Florence Bangalamoyo and Nadia Suleman.
“We are pleased to announce that our board of directors held a meeting on 15th April 2026 and approved the appointment of an interim committee to oversee the management of our upcoming NBS Bank Charity Shield match against Nyasa Big Bullets. Please note that this committee will serve on an interim basis and will be dissolved immediately after conclusion of the match,” the notice reads.

Chimwenje said: “It is a big game and we are not relenting. I am happy that I will lead the supporters’ team and I do not see anything pushing us back from winning this match. Our main job is to cheer the team and give our players the necessary support so that they give us what we want most.”
Bullets will be hoping for revenge after losing all matches against Wanderers last year.
During the first round of the 2025 TNM Super League, the Nomads beat the People’s Team 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on May 5, before whipping Bullets 3-0 in a second round encounter on October 26.
Bullets’ humiliation did not end there as they also lost 1-0 to the Lali Lubani Road side on November 2 in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals.
