Scorchers strikers Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga inspired Wuhan Jiangda University FC to win the 2023 Chinese Football Association Cup after beating Shanghai 2-0 Monday.
The two sisters combined and scored a goal each but Temwa won the golden boot award with 15 goals in five matches.
This is Wuhan’s second trophy of the season, having won the 2023 Chinese Women’s National Cup in April, when Temwa also won the same award with six goals.
Temwa, 24, did not hide her excitement.
“I am really happy to have won the cup and the golden boot award. I thank my teammates for helping me. It was not easy but together we have done it,” she said.

The Scorchers forward is set to write another piece of history in China as she is also the leading top goalscorer in the league with 10 goals.
Her elder sister Tabitha featured for the first time for Wuhan after returning to the club following the expiry of a season-long loan at Italian side Inter Milan Women.
While at Inter Women, Tabitha scored 23 goals in 21 matches as she became the first African female player to achieve that feat.
Tabitha hailed her younger sister for winning her second golden boot.

“Temwa is a star. She really works hard every day and I am proud of her,” Tabitha said.
National Women’s Football Association Chairperson Adelaide Migogo praised the Chawinga sisters for proving their worth.
“This is good news for Malawi. It shows that we have talented players,” Migogo said.
Tabitha is on the radar of several European clubs following her impressive performance in Italy.
