The Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) has called for transparency and accountability in the government’s decision to reallocate funds initially budgeted for the 2026 Independence celebrations.
CHRR Executive Director Michael Kaiyatsa made the call following a statement from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation announcing plans to redirect the funds towards other priorities, including the purchase of maize and medicine for public hospitals.
