Civil Service United have admitted that they owe players game bonuses for six matches.
The Civil Servants’ General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira said they owe each player about K195,000.
But he assured that the players would get their dues once the club gets its quarterly funding from their sponsor, Office of the President and Cabinet.
“We have a good culture at Civil. We do not think the players can deliberately be losing matches due to game bonuses. Two months ago, we had no arrears with the players but we were still losing matches. This is just a bad patch that we are going through,’’ Chipalanjira said.

Civil players get K50,000 for a win and K15,000 for a draw and Chipalanjira said the owed amount is from three victories and three draws.

’’We had a meeting with the players and the technical panel recently but the issue of game bonuses was not mentioned. So we are confident that the team will get positive results soon,’’ he said.
Pressure is mounting on Civil to start performing as they are stuck in the relegation zone with 24 points from 21 matches, one point behind Mafco who have played 22 matches.
Since the season kicked off, Civil have won five matches, drawn nine and lost seven.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama advised Civil’s leadership to remain focused.

“Civil have better resources compared to other Super League teams but they fail to put them to good use. They cannot even go out to scout players.
“They need to properly assess their tools and know how best to use them. In the recent past, they have been selling reliable players without replacing them. This has worked to the detriment of the team,’’ Chinyama said.
