As the 2024 season is set to start on March 30 with Charity Shield, Super League teams have completed the hiring of technical panel members.
At Area 47 in Lilongwe, new Silver Strikers Coach Peter Mponda announced his backroom staff comprising familiar and new faces at the Central Bankers.
Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Flames forward Zicco Mkanda has been named fitness and coach for the team’s strikers while former Flames utility player Emmanuel Chipatala is now the Team Manager.
Goalkeeper’s trainer McDonald Mphande has returned to the Central Bankers under the same role while Cassim Wasili has been roped in as Welfare Manager.

Mponda has retained Peter Mgangira and Young Chimodzi Jnr as first and second assistants respectively whereas Taonga Chimodzi has been maintained as Data Analyst.
In the new technical panel set up, Andrew Mtalimanja remained as Physiotherapist while Team Doctor Chikondi Kaminga and Kit Master Baby Kamwambe were maintained.
In a video clip, which Silver posted on their official Facebook page yesterday, Mponda said he made the selection after serious consideration of their abilities and believes the panel will help bring positive results.
“Some days ago I was announced as the new head coach of Silver Strikers Football Club which is a huge task that requires a panel to share roles and fight for a common goal.

“Therefore, I have made a selection of my technical panel going into the 2024 season and I am confident these people will help me in executing my job as the head coach perfectly. I plead with the fans and everyone associated with the team to rally behind us as we aim to work to get the much-needed results,” Mponda said.
Mponda backed his choice of backroom staff members.
“The reason for bringing Mkanda is because he has been one of the finest strikers in recent years. I am certain that with his experience he will help the youngsters. I think the players also have seen him playing so they will learn from him.
“Mgangira was already here and he knows the club very well and he will help me settle fast. Of course I have already settled but there are some areas I will need him. On Chimodzi, he left the pitch two years ago, he knows the players and I think there are some issues the players can to find [explain to] me or Peter but they can easily relate with him,” Mponda said.
Meanwhile, Central Region Football Association Premier Division Champions Creck Sporting Club formerly Kawinga Friday unveiled former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers skipper and assistant coach Joseph Kamwendo as an assistant to coach MacDonald Mtetemera.
Kamwendo was delighted with his appointment saying he was determined to help the side flourish in their debut Super League season.
“I am here to add value to the team,” Kamwendo said.
Elsewhere, Chitipa United replaced Mtetemera with former Malawi National Women’s Football Team coach McNebert Kazuwa.
Kazuwa was named moments after the team unveiled former Extreme coach and ex-Flames defender Elvis Kafoteka as the team’s assistant coach.
