Musician and former Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative Code Sangala returned to the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session stage last Thursday with a cry for the country to take a serious step in environment conservation.
Held at Alliance Francaise de Blantyre, he said the country had lost its ‘green’ environment.
The singer and guitarist has since released a single titled ‘Suntche’, which speaks volumes of environment conservation.
The former host of Sounds of Malawi, who is now based in the United States of America, took time out to perform the song at the concert.
“This song is special to me because I am addressing a very important subject of deforestation in Malawi. It is necessary for the country to wake up and embark on an intense afforestation programme to restore Malawi,” he said.

During a question-and-answer session, Code said it was worrisome that the country was losing trees.
“If we are not careful, we will wake up one day to a Malawi that is a desert. This is an appeal to the Malawi Government and citizens to plant more trees. I think it should be a law that every household plants a tree,” he said.
At the concert, Code, who was armed his acoustic guitar, served a number of songs including ‘Kwathu ku Ndirande’ and ‘Bwenzi Langa’.
“It is always great to perform at Sounds of Malawi. This is a platform that has opened up to many artists in the country,” he said.
